Use the WD Passport For Backups

We use Western Digital Passport external USB hard drives extensively. We love these little devices, from the new 250gb to the 60gb for our really cost conscious customers.

The best features include the size (even with the case, still about the size of a laptop hard drive, which is what they are) and the fact that they draw power from the USB port and do not need a separate power supply. They are perfect for swapping external hard drives to keep copies of backups off-site.

For our customers needing more than the 250gb of backup storage, we're still using full sized drives and NAS, but the passports are great, economical storage solutions for our smaller customers.

Here's a review from Softpedia.

I just lit up a WD 250 Passport drive tonite and can't believe how crazy the interface is. Going through the step by step was fine except I had clicked everything on my C drive and all it sync'd was my Outlook files.
Then on completion it returns to a screen without a message saying it's complete. In the window it leaves me in there is no "exit" button, only an "OK" button which I clicked and it promptly started sync'ing my Outlook files all over again.
I went to the file menu and selected everything on my C drive and it is sync'ing that now. I 'presume' that if I delete a file, the next 'sync' will have it deleted as well.
How do I use it to store data that I no longer want on my c drive? eg. I am a photographer and would like to save edited photos on it and not have them on C, due to space requirements. Do I just create a new directory that is not in sync, on the WD Passport and copy to it and manually update it each time?
I'm really surprised at how user 'unfriendly' this is and how skeletal the instructions are. I can't recall another program that I was so 'uncomfortable' with. If anyone knows of a good tutorail for this thing, I'd sure be interested in reading it.

Boy, do I sympathize with you. I've been messing with mine for several hours (over several days) and still can't use it consistently.
