10 reasons why Windows XP will be around a while

With the Windows 7 launch on October 22 it looks like On-Site Technical Solutions managed to get through the Vista era without deploying that OS. All of our customers are still running Windows XP Pro and many of them will be for a while. A handful of customers bought PCs without our help and ended up with Vista, but I think we downgraded ALL of them to Windows XP. We never really got Vista to work in the business environment. We don't plan to roll out Windows 7 until SP 1 (or we get it to work seamlessly in our environment since we'll be using it) despite the great reviews it's getting - force of habit from 25+ years in the business!

The fact that Microsoft will continue to sell and update Windows XP Pro are probably the leading indicators that the software will be around for a while. Plus the fact that the deep recession isn't giving businesses any reasons to spend money unless they simply must, and Windows 7 doesn't really provide that for most of our customers.
