Notes from the GM
Have You Visited Our New Website?

Our new website is up and running! The new site does a much better job of reflecting what we do here at On-Site Technical Solutions. If you haven’t seen it yet, take a few minutes to browse it at  www.on-siteoc.com.

Our primary focus is managed services and Cloud Computing is an integral part of that focus. That’s why the first page includes our managed services and cloud offerings. In addition to our partnership with Microsoft (and our Small Business Specialist designation) we are now a Google Apps Authorized Reseller. Microsoft is moving heavily into the Cloud, and we will be extensively involved with both vendors.

With Google Apps we have been able to completely eliminate the need, and therefore the cost, of a server, hosted or local, for some of our customers. Smaller businesses that need a server to run an application that need to replace an aging server may find that purchasing a server is the most cost-effective solution in the near term. Pricing and logistics for hosted servers are not quite scaled to the under 15 seat market, especially with the new Microsoft Foundation server platform launched earlier this year.

IBM is also competing in the on-site SMB server market with its Lotus Foundations product line. Did IBM and Microsoft use the same marketing firm to come up with these names?

We expect most of our customers to move away from on-site servers in the next three years. The pricing and logistics for Cloud computing with or without a server is developing rapidly and we don’t see that slowing down. Even a 5-seat business needing a server will be able to utilize a hosted platform.

Back to the website, we still link to our blog at www.on-sitetechnicalsolutions.blogspot.com but now also link to our Twitter account atwww.twitter.com/mhboys. We’ve also added a newsletter signup link.
We will be adding landing pages and new links, but we’re happy to now have an easy to navigate site that reflects our current business model. We plan to use the new site to leverage our forays into social media and all of our marketing efforts.

Last month we discussed the growing importance of social media to business. If you’d like to talk about your website and how you can integrate your traditional and social media marketing into the site give us a call. We’ll stop by with our web and social media professionals.

If you’d like to know how to get started with social media for your business, give us a call about that, too! Please feel free to call or text me (1-949-212-2168) with any questions or to set up a time to discuss your business needs.

You should follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/mhboys
