Google Chrome Browser Continues to Gain Market Share

Google Chrome has eclipsed Safari as the third most popular browser in the world while Firefox and Chrome continue to chip away at Microsoft Internet Explorer's market share lead.

On-Site Technical Solutions, Inc. recommends Chrome because of its speed, functionality and compatibility with Google Apps.

Janco Associates reports that Microsoft IE's share has dropped by more than 12% since February 2007 when it had close to 80% of the market. While less than 6% of the market for Chrome may not seem like much, Mashable notes that the number is impressive for a new browser.

We can expect Chrome and Firefox to increase market share even more at Microsoft's expense as Microsoft rolls out a new web browser choice screen to users in Europe this month. The new function is part of a December European Commission antitrust agreement.

The other browsers will also benefit as Google ends support for IE 6 in Google Apps and You Tube.
