Will The iPhone be Coming to Verizon?

The NY Times article below has an interesting take on Verizon's competition with ATT that also touches on the future of the iPhone's potential carrier homes. this article suggests that Verizon is solidifying its partnership with Google, perhaps at the expense of a future with Apple and the iPhone.

Because Verizon is making inroads into ATT's market share without the iPhone, it may not need to partner with Apple and may continue to simply partner with Google and the Droid. We're seeing wonderful things in the Android platform and we will soon be an iPhone and Droid company. That's one of the reasons I've expressed confidence in the arrival of lower cost competition to the iPad. We'll be able to sit back and watch the giants slug it out, hopefully to our benefit with better apps and devices as well as lower prices.

Here's the NY Times article: Even Without iPhone, Verizon Is Gaining on ATT
