My Blackberry died and I replaced it with a Samsung Droid from ATT. I can do pretty much everything on the smartphone I can do on a computer. With access to wi-fi, I can do it as quickly as I can on the computer unless I must type quite a bit. In fairness to Blackberry, their newer phones have a much better web experience than my old (less than two years!) phone. I can't do that on sites I can't see or easily navigate because they are optimized for access on a full-sized screen.
The central point here is that businesses are going to lose customers if they don't make their websites easily available to smart phones. As more applications move to the cloud this will also become more important for employee access to business tools.
