3 New Official Gmail Features and One Less

Microsoft had it's Patch Tuesdays, when they would roll-out groups of patches to their software across platforms (server, desktop, web etc.). Now that Microsoft's patches are not the issues they once were, we can spend our Tuesdays looking at Google new feature releases.

This week. three features are moving out of labs and into mainstream Gmail (and therefore Google Apps if your administrator permits them).

  1. Superstars, which provides more than one type of star for email This enables us to create a  a prioritized to-do list of emails.
  2. Nested labels gives us the opportunity to create sub-labels - think of sub-folders in Outlook and Windows.
  3. Enhancements to IMAP administration.
Gone is Google Search box lab which has been supplanted by the already existing "Search the Web" button in Gmail.
