Lock down cells with Protected Ranges in Google spreadsheets

One of the best features of Google Apps is the ability to edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations simultaneously with multiple people. We can watch each other update documents while we're updating, enhancing our collaboration and productivity.

Google has now added the ability to protect ranges of cells in shared spreadsheets so that not everyone can update every cell. This can also be useful in shared spreadsheets where sections of the spreadsheets are updated by different people.

And here's the blog post announcing it.
